Apple Unveils Large-Scale Launch of iPhone 18 Pro Featuring A20 Pro Chip and Siri AI Capabilities

    September 10, 2026

CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA / RankWire.AI / – Apple has introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, both boasting significant upgrades in camera technology, performance, and battery life. The latest models showcase a 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera with a variable aperture, a first for the iPhone. Powered by the new A20 Pro chip and equipped with a redesigned thermal management system, they will be available for preordering starting September 12, with retail stores opening on September 18 across more than 65 countries and regions.

The camera system on the iPhone 18 Pro introduces four adjustable aperture options to fine-tune lighting and depth of field. The main camera supports apertures of f/1.48, f/1.8, f/2.8, and f/4.0. In addition, the system features 48-megapixel Ultra Wide and Telephoto lenses. New Pro controls enable users to modify aperture, shutter speed, and white balance directly within the Camera app. Users can also monitor a histogram during photo or video capture.

Apple has rolled out Reference Image, an opt-in feature designed to authenticate photographs. When capturing an image in Reference mode, sensor data is signed and stored, creating a reference image that can be compared with an edited version in the Photos app. The company is also supporting image metadata and the SynthID standard, with SynthID functionality arriving via a software update later in 2026.

Expanded camera controls with the introduction of variable aperture

Manufactured using a 2-nanometer process, the A20 Pro chip features a six-core CPU and a seven-core GPU. It also incorporates a Dual 16-core Neural Engine with a total of 32 cores dedicated to AI processing. Apple claims the GPU offers performance improvements of up to 40% over the A19 Pro. The new vapor chamber design increases surface area, enhancing sustained performance. The devices also support Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread via Apple’s N1 wireless networking chip.

Battery life is also improved across the iPhone 18 Pro series. Apple estimates eSIM-only variants can deliver up to 36 hours of video playback, with the Pro Max reaching 45 hours under similar conditions. The iPhone 18 Pro can achieve a 50% charge in approximately 15 minutes when using compatible wired accessories. Eliminating the physical SIM tray allows for additional battery space in eSIM-only models, which will be available in several Middle Eastern markets.

Siri AI Debuts with iOS 27

The latest phones come preloaded with iOS 27 and support Siri AI through Apple Intelligence. Siri AI enters beta testing on September 14 for supported devices configured in English. Support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish is scheduled for October. The software can utilize personal context from messages, emails, and photos while processing user requests. It is also capable of responding to content displayed on the screen. Apple Intelligence relies on on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute for supported cloud-based tasks.

The starting price for the iPhone 18 Pro is $1,199 in the United States, while the Pro Max begins at $1,299. Both variants are available with storage options of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB. Colors include burgundy, glacier, silver, and black. In the UAE, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at AED 5,099. Preorders will open on September 12, with sales beginning on September 18. An additional 20 countries and regions are set to receive the devices on September 25.
