Goyal’s U.S. trip runs from September 29 to October 5, encompassing activities beyond the G20 summit. He plans to meet with business leaders and investors in Milwaukee and Chicago, representing sectors such as manufacturing, consumer goods, agribusiness, retail, and technology. His itinerary features roundtable discussions with startups and companies. In Chicago, he will also meet with professional associations representing the Indian community and participate in commemorative events scheduled during his stay.

The Milwaukee agenda features a Global Forum on Steel Excess Capacity on September 30. G20 ministers are also scheduled to visit a Rockwell Automation facility before the official opening session later that day. Additional ministerial meetings are set for October 1. The United States holds the G20 presidency in 2026, with officials prioritizing discussions on forced labour, excess capacity, food trade, and the Most-Favoured-Nation principle at the summit.
India and the United States began negotiations for a broader bilateral trade agreement in February 2025.
