Egypt and Al Dahra Initiate a Major $500 Million Wheat Supply Initiative

    August 27, 2026

EL ALAMEIN, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Al Dahra Agriculture Trading and Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities have launched a five-year agreement for wheat supply valued at up to US$500 million. This deal transitions a 2023 financing plan into a functional import framework for Egypt. Al Dahra will deliver imported wheat to GASC, with funding provided by the Abu Dhabi Exports Office. The arrangement formalizes the process for purchases under that existing financial program.

The signing took place at Egypt’s Cabinet of Ministers headquarters in El Alamein on Aug. 26, 2026. Egypt’s Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, also the head of GASC, was present at the ceremony. Khadim Abdullah Al Darei, co-founder and managing director of Al Dahra, also attended. No specifics regarding wheat volume, shipment schedules, origin countries, or pricing formulas for the deal were disclosed in the announcement.

The financial arrangement originates from August 2023, when ADEX and Egyptian authorities established a revolving wheat import program. ADEX set the fund at US$100 million, with renewals each year over five years, totaling potentially US$500 million. Egypt’s ministries of international cooperation and finance joined GASC in forming this initial framework. The 2026 supply agreement now provides the operational basis for GASC to purchase wheat from Al Dahra within this financing scheme.

    2023 financial scheme now operational

ADEX, the export-financing branch of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, extends credit linked to purchases from Emirati exporters. In 2023, the office stated that its Egypt facility would support wheat and other essential goods supplied via Al Dahra. The financing program established a five-year framework for these transactions with GASC, and the current agreement maintains that structure while setting operational terms for imported wheat deliveries.

Since 2007, Al Dahra has been active within Egypt, operating farms in Toshka and East Oweinat. The company reported farming approximately 28,000 hectares across the country in 2023. Over the past three years, it supplied more than 180,000 tons of wheat to the Egyptian government. Additionally, Al Dahra announced this week that its comprehensive agricultural network now services over 40 markets globally.

Al Dahra’s Egyptian presence began in 2007

The agreement signed in August 2026 focuses on imported wheat, although Al Dahra also cultivates agricultural products domestically in Egypt. In 2023, the company identified itself as the country’s largest private-sector producer of wheat and corn, with roughly 85% of its Egyptian output directed to the local market. This new pact relates specifically to imported wheat supplied to GASC via the ADEX program, distinct from a separate US$500 million financing initiative.

The five-year agreement enacts the financial structure announced three years earlier, rather than establishing a new US$500 million facility. The total wheat tonnage covered by this deal has not been disclosed, nor have shipment schedules, origin breakdowns, or pricing formulas. As of Aug. 27, 2026, the confirmed plan remains a five-year wheat supply program valued at up to US$500 million under ADEX financing.
